Ravi K Chandran takes India to the 31st Edition of Energa Camerimage Festival!

Veteran cinematographer Ravi K Chandran is the first Indian Jury Member of the renowned EnergaCamerimage Festival in Poland. With an experience of 40 years as a cinematographer he is known for his work in films like Kannathil Muthamittal, Black, My Name is Khan and many more.

Camerimage is an internationally renowned festival that concentrates on the art of cinematography. The festival has a reputation for being extremely exclusive in its nomination and is considered on par, if not more prestigious than The Academy Awards by filmmakers around the world. Unlike the Oscars, Camerimage has very specific award categories which proves it’s dedication to the art of film making.

In 2010, Ravi K Chandran was the first Indian cinematographer to be nominated for the Golden Frog by EnergaCamerimage for his work in My Name is Khan. This year EnergaCamerimage is being conducted in Torun, Poland from 11-18 November. The festival has previously invited the likes of Darren Aronofsky, Roger Deakins, Ralph Fiennes and more.

Ravi K Chandran will also be representing the Indian Society of Cinematographers, ISC. It is a great honour for the ISC to have such an important member be invited to Camerimage. This invitation is a step forward towards including and recognising Indian Filmmaking on a international forum.

Meanwhile, the teaser of ‘Thug Life’ directed by Mani Ratnam starring Kamal Haasan was released recently and its visuals by Ravi K Chandran have attracted a lot of attention.
