Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIID)Silver Jubilee celebrations showcased Display of Padma Shri Thota Tharrani’s  Art Works at Nungambakkam
The Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIID) is the apex professional body representing Designers, Architects, related Trades/Corporations, Institutions, and students, boasting around 10,000 members nationwide.
 
This month, IIID are thrilled to showcase the high-energy works of the renowned artist Padma Shri Thota Tharrani, whose legacy continues to inspire art enthusiasts globally. Tharani’s unique use of colors, from vibrant hues to monochrome, coupled with his keen observation and creativity, exemplifies his rare talent. With a career spanning over four decades, Tharani has made significant contributions to visual arts, particularly in ciIIIDnema set design and architectural murals, leaving an indelible mark on Madras and beyond.
 
Our esteemed Guests of Honour, Mr.Vikram Cotah and Ms.Rachna Kumar, Ar.Vamsi Krishna bring a wealth of experience and expertise to our event. 
 
Mr.Vikram Cotah, CEO of GRT Hotels, is a prominent figure in the Indian hospitality industry, recognized for his leadership and community service initiatives.
 
Ms.Rachna Kumar, Vice President of Hamsadhwani, Former Secretary FICCI FLO, Council Member WICCI is known for her vibrant enthusiasm for life and her contributions to various fields, including wellness and design.
 
Joining them is Ar Vamsi Krishna, Principal Architect & Partner at Rain- Studio of Design a young and innovative designer renowned for his experimental approach to architecture and material exploration. Co-founder of Rain- Studio of Design, Vamsi’s work exemplifies innovation and functionality in architectural design.
 
Along with them Ar.Pa.Ravi -Chairperson IIID-CRC, Mr.Dharmesh Mehta-Hon.Secretary IIID-CRC & Ms.Patricia Thery Hart -Director Alliance Francaise of Madras graced the occasion.
 
The exhibition will run from February 24th to 26th, 2024, from 10 am to 7 pm, offering visitors a firsthand experience of Thota Tharrani’s inspiring work. Admission is free, as IIID remains committed to promoting awareness of Best Design Practices among the public.
 
IIID With thirty-four Chapters and Centers across India, IIID plays a crucial role in shaping the nation’s design landscape, adapting to contemporary challenges and trends. Reflecting on their journey since 1972,  take pride in their achievements, especially as they celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the Chennai Chapter, marking 25 years of presence in the city.
 
As part of  IIID Silver Jubilee celebrations, the Chennai Chapter has organized design confluences, trade exhibitions, and hands-on workshops aimed at promoting experiential learning among Interior Design practitioners, trading community, associated professionals and students. Additionally, IIID have collaborated with the Chennai Corporation to infuse public spaces with a unique ‘Namma Chennai’ design language.
