”I am curious to see that the world of Kolai expanding with more instalments for it has potential to connect well with universal crowds” – Vijay Antony
Actor Vijay Antony holds a special mention for streaking success with fresh directorial talents in the industry. The multi-faceted icon of Tamil cinema is now elated sharing his experience of working with debutant Balaji Kumar, director of his upcoming release ‘Kolai’, which is all set for worldwide release tomorrow (July 21, 2023).
He starts off saying, “Personally, I am a great fan of whodunit murder-mystery thrillers from childhood. Of course, it is one particular genre that has great has universal fans. When Balaji Kumar narrated the script, I felt both the plot and my character so intense. Every male actor loves to play such a character at least once in his career, and I’m glad that Kolai has offered this opportunity. I mean to state that it’s a character that needs to battle the baffling challenges within itself, and has to crack the mystery. Besides, every character in the film has so much importance, and the actors have delivered a remarkable performance.”
Sharing his experience of working with his co-stars, Vijay Antony adds, “I would say, these actors are a bunch of powerhouse talents. Ritika Singh has already exhibited her brilliance in debut film itself, and she is pretty focussed in exploring new domains of acting. She has done a great job with her performance. I believe Meenakshi Chaudhary will have an increased fan base of this film’s release. Radhika Sarathkumar, Murali Sharma, Siddartha Shankar and everyone has made ‘Kolai’ look outstanding.”
Will there be more instalments in the franchise of ‘Kolai’? “I am curious to see that the world of Kolai expanding with more instalments for it has potential to connect well with universal crowds. Our producers are already instilled with this idea, and it will surely get materialised in the near future.”
‘Kolai is produced by Infiniti Film Ventures and Lotus Pictures, and is written and directed by Balaji Kumar.
The film features a musical score by Girishh Gopalakrishnan, and cinematography by Sivakumar Vijayan.
