ALERTATHON 2022, A GLOBAL ENDURANCE EVENT TO SAVE LIVES KICK-STARTS IN CHENNAI
Chennai, October 9th, 2022: The eighth edition of the ALERTATHON 2022, the world’s only endurance event to save lives, was held in Chennai today in collaboration with the Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) and the Greater Chennai Police. The event was organised by ALERT, a voluntary non-profit organisation that works to ensure the “Right to life” is a reality in India. Mr. V.M.Muralidharan, Chairman ALERT, flagged off the 50K and 25K cycling events to save lives at Dr. MGR Janaki Arts and Science College for Women in Adyar. Thiru Harsh Singh, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) North, Greater Chennai the chief guest of ALERTATHON 2022 signed the pledge and gave away the awards to the winners. Dr. Iyappan, Medical Director, Kauvery Hospitals flagged off the 10K, 5K, and 2.5K x 4 Chain of Survival Team Relay.
The event was sponsored by Kauvery Hospitals and Bahwan CyberTek. The event was partnered by FFLR, Rotary Club of Madras South, Rotary Club of Chennai Towers as lead clubs, Dr. MGR Janaki College for Women, Geetham, WCCG, Bikerz, My Race Timing, Food Strong, Brooks, Fast&Up, Trash Troopers, MGM Healthcare, Trash Troopers, Townscript, HDOR, JFX, Social Pundit, Coton Code, Zing n Swing. The event direction was by Kays Fit Academy.
Speaking about ALERT, Mr. Mike Muralidharan, Chairman, ALERT, said, ” We have trained over 1,85,000 ordinary people since our inception as first responders through various initiatives reaching out to audiences from all walks of life in India. Every initiative by ALERT is towards the mission of saving lives and the goal set by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam – ‘train one in every family in emergency response’. I thank all the participants for becoming the ambassadors of the mission.”
