Parandhu Po Set for Grand release on July 4 – Director Ram’s Feel-Good Journey Takes Flight!

The upcoming Tamil feature film ‘Parandhu Po’, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ram, is all set to hit the screens on July 4 by the popular production and distribution house Romeo pictures. Produced  by Jio Studios, GKS Productions, Seven Seas, and Seven Hills Productions, the film promises to be a heartwarming cinematic experience celebrating familial bonds, emotional growth, and childlike wonder

Parandhu Po stars Mirchi Shiva, Grace Antony, Master Mithun Riyan, Anjali, Aju Varghese, and Vijay Yesudas, with a special musical contribution by actor Siddharth, who lends his voice to one of the songs. The film explores themes of connection and emotional reconciliation between a father and son, while painting a broader picture of family, humor, and life’s quiet moments.

Highlights from the Press Meet

Speaking at the event, Jet Krishnakutty, Regional Head of Jio Studios, remarked, “When Ram narrated the story, I connected with it immediately. We are proud to present this film. It has the emotional weight and relatability to strike a chord with audiences across India.”

Director Ram shared, “This story is deeply personal. It is about flawed, ordinary people and extraordinary feelings. Initially, Yuvan Shankar Raja was to compose the music, but due to scheduling conflicts and the volume of songs, we brought in Santhosh Narayanan, who did a phenomenal job.”

Actor Mirchi Shiva, in an emotionally resonant tone, said, “This role pushed me into unfamiliar territory. Ram sir is a director who brings out unseen layers in actors. I am grateful for this opportunity, and I believe this is a turning point in my acting journey.”

Actress Grace Antony added, “This was a unique role for me, both emotional and comedic. Shiva sir taught me a lot on set, and working under Ram sir was both fun and enlightening.

A Musical Highlight

Composer Santhosh Narayanan composed nearly 20 songs for the film. “I learned a new way of seeing cinema and sound under Ram sir,” he said. The songs are emotionally layered and situationally rich.

Lyricist Madhan Karky wrote 25 songs, of which 19 are featured in the film. One of them, sung by Siddharth, is described as a “sweet surprise.” Notably, this film features Karky’s 1000th song, a remarkable milestone in his career. “The film explores the emotional triangle between a brother, his wife, and a child. The humor is subtle, the emotions powerful,” said Karky.

“Ram is a masterful storyteller. His stories are rooted in truth. I’m glad to have sung in this beautiful film. It’s light-hearted yet deep, and family audiences will enjoy it thoroughly.”

Producer Arun Viswa shared, “I take more pride in saying I’m Ram sir’s assistant than a producer. He predicted a decade ago that I would turn producer before director—and here we are.”

Industry veterans and filmmakers including Kalaipuli S. Thanu, Mari Selvaraj, Mysskin, Suresh Kamatchi, Meera Kathiravan, and Ranjith Jayakodi extended their best wishes and shared their admiration for the film.

Mari Selvaraj called it “a festive celebration for our family,” while Mysskin humorously said he now receives so many invites to events that he may have to charge ₹5 lakhs per appearance — but that Parandhu Po is truly a film worth supporting. A Family Film with a Universal Heart

Director Meera Kathiravan reflected on the film’s impact: “After watching it, I wanted to take my kids on a journey. The film reminds all parents to reconnect with their children’s world. Especially post-pandemic, this message is crucial.”

Producer Suresh Kamatchi added, “I couldn’t sleep for two days after watching Ram’s Peranbu. Parandhu Po is equally moving. I sincerely wish Shiva and the team a resounding success.”

Director Mysskin said, “I came to cinema after doing many jobs. They say that Mysskin will disappear after the films ‘Pisasu-2’ and ‘Train’. I think I should leave cinema soon. I am not happy in cinema. The days of making films with great joy are gone. Now there is a lot of competition and jealousy. I have stayed in cinema only by dripping blood.”

“Likewise, I get five to six phone calls a day inviting me to attend the film functions. Don’t call me to come to such film functions. If I want me to come, give me Rs. 5 lakh. That will help me in some way. So don’t call me, I have a lot of work. I have started studying a lot,”

“I really liked the way Director Ram told this story.   It is always a miracle when I watch Ram’s films. ‘Paranthu Po’ will definitely be enjoyed by families. A beautiful film.”

Director Ram, in closing, humbly said,  “I’m a simple man with flaws, like my characters. Initially, Yuvan was going to compose music for this film. Suddenly, Madan Karki said that it would be good if there were more songs like jingles in the film. The idea was very good. At that time, Yuvan was in Dubai. We should also go to the Rotterdam Festival. Before that we should finish the songs. Yuvan could not compose the songs from Dubai. And I could not go there either. His schedule was very busy. So Yuvan could not compose the songs for this film because he did not have time. The film also required 20 songs and Yuvan could not do it in that schedule, so Santosh Dayanidhi came in. He did whatever the story required. However, I miss Yuvan. There is no fight between me and him.”

”Jio Hotstar is a very easy place for me to work. Just seeing Pradeep gives me a special energy. I have talented actors like Siva and Grace in my film. I am happy to have used it. The entire technical team has done a great job and I was relaxed on this set. Romeo Pictures’ Rahul congratulated me after watching the film for the first time. He congratulated me after watching the film and said that releasing it globally is our great strength. This film is for all those who find beauty in the ordinary. I hope you see yourselves in it.”
