Summit for MSME procurement through Government e-Market to be held in Chennai on August 26th

A summit for MSME procurement through Government e-Market is scheduled be held in Chennai on August 26, 2022. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Southern Region is organising this summit.

The event that will happen at Hotel Crowne Plaza  from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. will be addressed by the State Minister for MSME, Shri T.M. Anbarasan. The CEO of GeM portal Shri P.K. Singh will deliver the special address. Interactions are planned to be held post the address of the special invitees. The summit will not only provide an opportunity for  the MSMEs to know the procurement needs of various Government departments, public sector organisations and corporates, it will also help them to formulate their businesses accordingly.

 The event will be attended by the representatives of Government departments, industries and private sector that are involved in the procurement of products manufactured in the MSME sector. In addition, senior officials from British Consulate, Southern Railway, Heavy Vehicles Factory (Avadi), ONGC, Larson and Turbo, and Brakes India will also participate in the summit.

It is to be noted that after Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, 4,06,961 sellers from Tamilnadu have registered themselves with the GeM portal. Post the launch of the portal on 09.08.2016, goods worth Rs. 1090 crore have been procured through this by the State Government organisations. Similarly, vendors from the state received orders for goods worth Rs. 7185 crore through the Government e-Market. Of this, the share of MSMEs located in Tamilnadu is around Rs. 3493 crore.
