12th Mr. India Championship to commence in Chennai

A grand stage, the most extravagant ever, will be laid out for the country’s top male and female Body Building and Physique Sports athletes, when the 12thMr. India Senior Men’s & Women’s Bodybuilding & 7th Men’s Sport Physique & Women’s Model Physique National Championships scheduled to be held at the Late Col. Jeppiaar Auditorium, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, from March 29 to March 31, 2019 under the organization of Tamilnadu Amateur Body Building Association.

Recognizing the years of hard work and sacrifices that goes into sculpting one’s physique, till it is worthy of reaching the competition stage, the Indian Body Builders Federation (IBBF), the governing body for the sport in the country, has left no stone unturned in its efforts to put up a show that is befitting these champion athletes. The Indian Body Builders Federation is led under the management of Shri Premchand Degra (Padmashri, Arjun Awardee) as the President, Shri Chetan Pathare as the General Secretary and Shri Swamy Ramesh as the Treasurer and have 43 State Associations, Union Territories and Government Sports Boards affiliated to it.

More than 600 athletes and 250 officials, from all over the country will descend upon the city of Chennai, over three days of competition, vying for a slice of the whopping prize money.

The athletes and officials will be hosted in five star comfort at Hotel Novotel, Chennai, with special emphasis being laid on their dietary needs and comfort for the duration of the competition. Every athlete will be given sports kits and participation certificates, and the winners will be awarded specially designed trophies, medals and cash awards. Elaborating further, Mr. Chetan Pathare, General Secretary IBBF said, said, “We are extremely delighted to be presenting the 12th edition of Mr. India Senior Men’s & Women’s Body Building Championship 2019. The current edition of the championship is expected to set new standards within the industry and among fans, The Athletes from the Government Sports Control Boards along with participants from various states and union territories will be vying for the top honours and a slice of the whopping prize money.

The IBBF is recognized as the only National Sports Federation for the sport of body building in India by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and also by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the National Anti-doping Agency (NADA).

Tamilnadu Amateur Body Building Association has been the earliest of bodybuilding associations ever formed and registered in Tamil Nadu and functional since the 1975s. Tamilnadu Amateur Body Building Association has been organizing competitions at various levels in Tamil Nadu over several years, including city, district and State events. TABBA, under the guidance of General Secretary and Mr. India M. Arasu, has been an association that sanctioned competitions giving away huge cash prizes to overall champions.

Several top champions of the State, who went on to win glory to the nation in the international arena such as Rajendran, Baskaran, Balamurugan, Jayaprakash, Senthil Kumaran, Kothandaraman and others were regularly competing in contests organized by TABBA under the guidance of Mr. Arasu.

The Indian Body Builders Federation takes pleasure in announcing that it has been given sanction to Tamilnadu Amateur Body Building Association to conduct the most prestigious event in the country in the month of March in Chennai.

The IBBF is sure that the event will draw the best of bodybuilders from all over the country to the capital of Tamil Nadu and be a resounding success under the organization of the Tamilnadu Amateur Body Building Association.
