South Indian Actors Association – 68th Annual General Meeting Passes Unanimous Resolutions!

The 68th General Body Meeting of Nadigar Sangam was held this morning at Kamarajar Arangam. Actors, Actresses and Drama artistes from Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu graced the occasion.

The executive committee meeting was held at 9 am.

Following this, the event commenced at 10 A.M. with Tamizh Thai Vaazhthu.

Members of the Association – Latha, Rohini, Kovai Sarala, Lalitha Kumari, Pasi Sathya, Sathyapriya, and Soniya lit the traditional Kuthu Vizhakku Lamp.

Welcome Speech was addressed by General Secretary Vishal, and Annual Report by Vice-President Karunaas.

Bank loan consultant Jayanthi Giridharan facilitated the construction of the new building. Auditor Sriram, Legal Counsel Krishna Ravindran, Charles Darwin, and Chandrasekhar, who provided complimentary medical checkups on behalf of Apollo Hospital, along with Dr.Vijay Shankar, who organized a free eye camp titled ‘Shankar Eye-Care’,
and PRO Johnson, were honoured during the occasion.

Treasurer Karthi delivered speech pertaining to the plans and strategies to raise funds for the construction of New Nadigar Sangam building.

Special thanksgiving was extended to Kamal Haasan for his contributions to the construction of the New Nadigar Sangam building, as well as to Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udayanidhi Stalin, Sun Star Hotels and Estates, Napoleon, Sivakarthikeyan, Dhanush, and Karthi.

IMPORTANT PART OF THE OCCASION:

Actors Delhi Ganesh and C.R.Vijayakumari received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of their contributions to the field. Additionally, they were presented with a gold dollar featuring the facial impression of Sankara Das Swamigal, who is regarded as the father of drama.

Actress C.R. Vijayakumari said,
“The previous members of the actors’ association failed to accord me the respect I rightfully deserved. In contrast, the current members of Nadigar Sangam, whom I regard as my own children, visited my home and demonstrated their affection for me. Additionally, the current Chief Minister is well-informed about this matter and graciously indicated that he would take my request regarding the actors’ association into consideration.”

Actor Delhi Ganesh said,
“I am really spellbound over this team’s persistence and perseverance in making Nadigar Sangam better.
I wish that the same team continues to strive for excellence and we will make sure they continue to hold their positions in the forthcoming elections as well so that Nadigar Sangam achieves a greater status.”

‘Nadaga Thandhai Shankar Das Swamigal Award’ was conferred upon 10 eminent actors including Kaathadi Ramamoorthy, Pasi Sathya, Azhagu, Muthu Kaalai, S.C.Kalavathi, M.Kalavathi, M.R.Solaivalli, M.Kamaraj, Prasad V.C.Rajendran, and M.A.Prakash. They were honoured with the golden dollar of facial impression of Sankara Das Swamigal, who is regarded as the father of drama.

Actress Rohini addressed the ME TOO movement by stating that she, along with the organization advocating for women in the film industry, has created a support system for individuals who encounter sexual harassment. This initiative was launched in 2019. “Our aim is to empower and assist victims in bravely coming forward to report their experiences.”

It was determined that if the allegations against actors related to sexual misconduct be substantiated, they will face a five-year prohibition from participating in the film industry.

The general committee reached a unanimous agreement allowing the current association officers to carry on with their duties for the next three years until the completion of the building.

Prior to the commencement of the event, Free Medical Camp by Apollo Hospital and Eye check-up by Shankar Eye Care was held.

The event concluded with the recital of National Anthem and a grand and delicious lunch was served to the invitees.
