IK.Jayanthi lal appointed as Papua New Guinea’s South India Trade Commissioner

The India Pacific Islands Trade Council organized the India Papua New Guinea Summit which was attended by the Business community was held at the Star Hotel in Alwarpet Chennai.

The event also was graced by Tamil Nadu Ministers Palanivel Thiagarajan and Gingee K.S. Masthan have appointed IK.Jayanthi lal as Papua New Guinea’s Trade Commissioner for south India in the presence of Papua New Guinea High Commissioner to India HE Paulias Korni.

State Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan, Minister of State for NRI Affairs and Minority Welfare Gingee K.S. Masthan, IK.Jayanthi lal, south India Trade Commissioner of  Papua NewGuinea , HE Mr.Paulias Korni, Papua New Guinea High Commissioner to India, Dr.Venkatasalam Murugan, Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs, Dr.Asif Iqbal, Sujoy Maitra, Dr. R.L. kannan were also present on the occasion.

Minister of State for NRI Affairs and Minority Welfare Gingee K.S. Masthan,  said  Tamils living abroad should come to Tamil Nadu to start a business.The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is taking special steps in this regard.He said the role of expatriate Tamils was essential for the economic development of Tamil Nadu.

Speaking on the occasion, State Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan  said that global trade relations are essential in the present times. At present it is gratifying to see the development of trade relations between India and Papua New Guinea.

Speaking to reporters , South India Trade Commissioner for Papua New Guinea, IK.Jayanthi lal thanked Papua New Guinea’s Ambassador Paulias Korni for appointing him as Papua New Guinea’s Trade Commissioner and said that he would take delegations to the island nation to strengthen mechanisms created for enabling these trade opportunities between both countries.

Further, I will do my best to improve Papua New Guinea’s country Collaboration between South India & PNG by supporting for FDI in Government Projects & Public-Private Partnerships for developing projects in the field of Infrastructure, Energy, Mines &  Minerals, Automobiles, Textiles, etc. Supporting for Technical knowhow in the field of Agriculture & MSME set up. Supporting for enrolling PNG students for higher Studies in Medical, Information Technology & Management. Support for a better trusted Import Export business in the field of Perishable & Non-Perishable goods specifically for Rice, Vehicles, Machineries & Equipment. TamilNadu can act as a Catalyst for being out sourced for machine parts, tools, rubber parts, etc. Special Economic Zones in TN can be used to develop better trade between PNG & other Asian countries, said IK.Jayanthi lal, the newly appointed South India Trade Commissioner for Papua New Guinea.
